Before looking at its behavior on the track, we are going to make a brief summary of its main features and technologies that make the AT10 one of the best models of the season.

You can see our opinion in detail, together with its track test, in our video analysis of the Nox AT10 Genius 18K.

Analysis of the Nox AT10 Genius 18K 2023

The Nox AT10 Genius 18K is one of the most complete and balanced rackets on the market, not for nothing is Agustín Tapia ‘s racket, current number 2 in the world.

Regarding its composition, we find that its main characteristic is that it incorporates carbon in the frame for greater durability and an 18k carbon fabric has been used for the planes, which translates into greater rigidity of the padel racket.

For the core, medium density eva HR3 rubber has been used. This type of rubber provides an intermediate touch, being quite reactive and achieving the perfect combination between ball output, control and power.

It has sandpaper-like roughness with low-grammage silica sand. This is a more efficient type of roughening than embossed finishing. However, this type of finish suffers greater wear and, over time, tends to disappear.

It is a versatile racket aimed at advanced or medium level players who want to progress. Its teardrop shape gives it a medium balance, so the sweet spot is wide located in the central area.

Due to its composition and materials, it seems like a medium-touch padel racket, so it offers very good sensations when hitting. It also includes an AVS anti-vibration system, located on the sides for a smoother hit.

It has dynamic composit structure technology that minimizes the risk of breakage due to the difference in hardness between the materials and its safety rope is replaceable thanks to the use of smartstrap technology.

Advantages and sensations

  • It is a very manageable and agile racket, due to its weight and materials it is very comfortable to play for long periods.
  • It has a wide sweet spot which offers an advantage when it comes to hitting lobs and volleys, as well as being able to avoid errors with the most off-center balls.
  • It is a medium-touch racket, with a very good ball output for slow balls or defending near the net.
  • It is a versatile padel racket that lends itself to experienced and mid-level players who are looking for a model to defend close to the net but at the same time serve to respond from the back of the track.

The great advantages offered by the new Nox racket is that it is a versatile model, it is a racket that the player can grow with since it is very manageable by presenting a balance between power and control that responds very well both on the net and on the background of the track and lends itself as an ideal model for experienced and intermediate level players who want to progress.

This season the Spanish brand that puts together big stars like Miguel Lamperti has opted for new materials, technologies and classic designs. Thanks to its anti-vibration technologies in the frame and its carbon construction, we believe that the AT10 Genius 18K is one of the most complete rackets of the season.

It is a model that presents very good performance and allows thanks to its lightness to facilitate long games, as well as thanks to its roughness it allows to improve shots with spin and accurate response to off-center shots.

Disadvantages of the Nox AT10 Genius 18K

Finally, and as something that we have missed is that since it is not as tough as its sister in 12K we can notice that it is thanks to its construction in the shots that it may absorb the ball a lot, so for the shot it is necessary to accompany more the shot to have a good start.

However, it is not something that we see as essential because for players who seek to control their strength from the bottom of the court, it compensates just the same thanks to the great control it offers due to its medium balance.

For this reason, in general terms, the new Nox AT10 Genius 18K is a racket that we liked a lot and we classify it as a very balanced design that offers a good sweet spot and great defense near the net.

Opinion and tests on track

After testing the AT10 18K in defensive situations, we can say that it is a very manageable and agile racket, so we can easily move the racket to respond to the opponent’s attacks. Its sweet spot is very wide, so it provides a lot of control even when returning off-center balls.

From the back of the track, it allows us to direct the ball very well and shoot tight lobs to move our rivals away from the net.

Its ball output is good, it is true that it does not fire as much as its 12k sister and you have to accompany the ball a little more but in general terms it responds well against slow balls, so we give it a notable output.

Regarding the attack, our impression is that it is quite reactive and allows us to be aggressive enough in the game near the net. Obviously it does not behave like a diamond padel racket, where the weight is on the tip and you can apply more force when hitting.

More than giving strength, what the AT10 18k allows us is to accelerate our shots, so when it comes to playing trays or vipers the ball comes out with a lot of speed and depth. The only drawback we found is that in shots he sometimes absorbs the ball too much, losing some power with what we think would be his point to improve.

In our opinion, Agustín Tapia’s racket is versatile and comfortable, so we recommend it to players looking for a racket that is easy to master to minimize errors and ensure good performance, especially at the bottom of the track but also near the grid.
